Enjoy a walk in the countryside where history comes alive.
WHAT: Join Interpretive Ranger Kara on a guided ranger tour through Los Luceros’ historic district. She will discuss the history of the site, its buildings, and the fantastic characters of its past. Guests will be guided around the site and its buildings, including the Victorian Cottage, the plans for which were purchased from a catalogue by Abel Lucero near the beginning of the 20th century.
WHERE: Los Luceros Historic Site, 253 County Road 41, Alcalde, NM 87511
WHEN: Sundays, May 4, 11, 18, & 25, 10:30–11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, May 7, 14, 21, & 28, 2025, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
WHY: You will also be able to see the 19th-century capilla, or chapel, which houses fantastic religious artwork by santera Clare Cresap Villa. Visitors will also learn about other interesting characters from the past who lived and worked on the property. The tour is included with admission of $7/adults and free to NM Seniors and children 16 and younger.
