EL PASO, TX – 2024 marks the 12th anniversary of the Binational Breastfeeding Coalition’s (BBC) Border Latch /
Gran Tetada Fronteriza where lactating individuals, along with family, friends and the community, show their
support and commitment to normalize breastfeeding and offer peer support.
This event, along with many other locations nationally and worldwide, also celebrates the World Alliance for
Breastfeeding Advocacy’s (WABA) World Breastfeeding Week and the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee’s (USBC)
National Breastfeeding Month. BBC will continue the tradition of conducting this event bi-nationally in the
US-Mexico border:

•La Gran Tetada Fronteriza

According to the CDC’s Breastfeeding Report Card 2022, the steady decline in any and exclusive breastfeeding
from month-to-month indicates that breastfeeding families may need stronger systems of support to reach their
breastfeeding goals. Through events like The Border Latch, BBC creates much needed awareness to this
important public health issue and promotes lactation resources our community can greatly benefit from.
About Binational Breastfeeding Coalition
