White Sands Missile Range Commander Colonel Andrew R. Morgan, M.D., US Army Astronaut, will speak about his career and experiences in space on Friday, May 1 

WHAT: New Mexico Museum of Space History’s next Launch Pad Lecture features distinguished astronaut, White Sands Missile Range Commander Colonel Andrew Morgan, who will present “From Special Operations to Space and Beyond: A Soldier’s Journey. 

WHO: Colonel Morgan served aboard the International Space Station on expeditions 60, 61, and 62, performing seven spacewalks and leading U.S. segment operations. He was the Army Senior Astronaut and Detachment Commander at the Johnson Space Center before assuming command of White Sands Missile Range in 2025. Before becoming a NASA astronaut in 2013, he served with U.S. Army Special Operations units, deploying to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Africa. 

WHEN: Friday, May 1, 2026, 9:00 a.m. 

WHERE: New Mexico Space History New Horizons Dome Theater and Planetarium, 3198 State Route 2001, Alamogordo, NM. 

WHY: Colonel Morgan will share insights into his career spanning military medicine, special operations, and human spaceflight during the free lecture.
