EL PASO: – Local restaurant Mi Pueblito Cafe will be hosting a visit from America’s Best Restaurants (ABR) in late January 2024.
America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant on January 26th. Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owner Amanda Ledesma about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.
Ledesma took over the restaurant twelve years ago. Her mother, Betty Ledesma, was the original cook and used many home recipes that Amanda still uses today. She notes that they are an authentic homemade Mexican-American eatery where everything is made from scratch, and she feels that is what has kept them in business so long.
“I think we have a great restaurant,” Amanda says. “Everything is authentic. Everything is delicious. We take pride in the quality of the food we put out.”
While Betty Ledesma is retired now from Mi Pueblito Cafe, Amanda still speaks with immense pride about her mother and her influence in making the restaurant the success it is today.
“My mom, when she was here all the time, people loved her. She was the mom nobody had and everybody wanted. She would dance in the restaurant; she didn’t care. She was that person.”
Popular menu items that may be featured on the episode include the award-winning enchiladas, the green chile cheeseburger with long chile and white cheese, and the BLT “with big thick Texas giant bread.”
In 2023, KTSM news recognized Mi Pueblito Cafe as a top Mexican restaurant in El Paso.
America’s Best Restaurants will be filming on location on Friday January 26th from 2 pm to 5 pm MST.
