El Paso, Texas, June 14, 2024 – The El Paso Community College (EPCC) Foundation supports the Association of Women in the Community College’s (AWCC) scholarship efforts by generously matching the AWCC scholarship for one very deserving awardee. This year, Fabiana Burciaga is the recipient of the matching Foundation scholarship. Congratulations, Fabiana, on your $1,500 summer scholarship!
The AWCC held their Scholarship Awards Dinner today at EPCC Culinary’s THIRTEEN09 Restaurant. During the program, a short profile of each awardee was shared with the audience of awardees, their families, and AWCC board members. Awardees also received a certificate of accomplishment, and attendees enjoyed a delicious three-course dinner prepared by EPCC Culinary Arts students. EPCC administrators who sponsored the cost of the meals of awardees and their families were also recognized.
For the 2023-2024 academic year, the AWCC awarded six $750 scholarships to the following outstanding EPCC students: Fabiana Burciaga, Dayana Cobian, Salia Muñoz, Mariana Quinlan, Lauren Solis, and Marissa Velazquez.
“The AWCC consists of women and men who come together to network, to share their talents with others in our community, and to help EPCC students pursue their education. The association offers book club discussions, fundraisers, and community service projects. Membership dues, along with fundraising, are used to provide scholarships to female EPCC students every year. Since 2002, AWCC has awarded over $65,000 in scholarships,” said Margie Nelson Rodriguez, EPCC Special Projects Assistant to the VP of Instruction and Workforce Education.
