EL PASO, Texas –University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Frantz M. Berthaud, MPH, FACHE, as Senior Vice President of Oncology Services. Berthaud brings more than 15 years of experience in oncology program leadership, operations, and strategic development across top-tier healthcare institutions.

Before joining UMC, Berthaud served as Market Director of Oncology for The Hospitals of Providence in West Texas, where he successfully expanded oncology service lines and strengthened program quality across multiple facilities. He also spent over a decade at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, where he held leadership roles, including Administrative Director of Thoracic Oncology at the Center for Cancer Therapeutic Innovation. His expertise in developing comprehensive cancer programs positions him well to lead UMC’s growing cancer services portfolio.

In his new role, Berthaud will be responsible for leading the strategic direction, growth, and operational excellence of UMC’s cancer services. He will focus on expanding clinical offerings, supporting multidisciplinary care teams, and improving patient experience.
Berthaud will also work closely with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) to support the operational planning and development of the Fox Cancer Center, ensuring alignment between clinical care, research, and education efforts.

Berthaud holds a Master of Public Health in Health Policy & Management from Boston University and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
