22nd annual Mesilla Valley Jazz and Blues Festival coming in October. All concerts are free of charge and sponsored by the MVJBS.
LAS CRUCES, NM – Residents of the Mesilla Valley can start anticipating the free jazz event of the year – the 22nd annual Mesilla Valley Jazz and Blues Festival in Mesilla and Las Cruces this October.
From Oct. 4-6, music lovers will be treated to continuous live jazz and blues artists on the Mesilla Plaza. Featured ensembles are all from the Borderland region.
The current lineup will showcase area favorites including the David Rodriguez & Havana Quintet, Sam Barlow and His True Blue Band, the Rio Grande Revelers and Desert Roots Reggae. Genres span the jazz and blues gamut, including Dixieland and Latin influences.
The Border Jazz Orchestra and Colin McAllister Latin Jazz Project will take audiences to the New Mexico State University main campus Saturday night, Oct. 5, with special performances at the Atkinson Recital Hall.
The festival schedule includes:
Oct. 4
• 5 to 11 p.m. at the Mesilla Plaza
Oct. 5
• Noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Mesilla Plaza
•7 to 10 p.m. at Atkinson Recital Hall
Oct. 6
• 1 to 7 p.m. at the Mesilla Plaza
All festival concerts are free and open to the public, sponsored by the Mesilla Valley Jazz and Blues Society.
