El Paso, TX, December 14, 2020 – The El Paso Community College (EPCC) Nursing Program celebrated its 2020 graduating students with a Drive-thru Pinning Ceremony on December 11. Students, faculty, and limited family members attended per social distancing practices at the Rio Grande Campus.
The Nursing Department at EPCC is diversifying to meet the students’ learning needs and COVID-19 compliance requirements in the region. The nursing students are eager to serve in the healthcare workforce to benefit the health and well-being of the El Paso Community. Students have achieved academic and professional goals through their resilient attitude. We are confident that they will become an invaluable asset to the community and capable of overcoming the various challenges that they will encounter throughout their professional growth.
It is a tradition for our students to receive their nursing pin and lamp in a ceremony; they had the opportunity to share this memorable time with their loved ones and celebrated by their faculty. It was a way to recognize our nursing students’ merit, which they have achieved despite the persistent challenges from the nursing program and the pandemic.
EPCC serves more than 28,500 students and offers 145 degree and certificate programs. Throughout its 50-year history, the college has remained focused on engaging students, growing community partnerships and fostering excellence. By creating a college-going culture and implementing innovative student success initiatives, EPCC is transforming the pathway to higher education and developing a better-prepared workforce for our region.
