Unwind this Holiday Season and Ditch the Lines at Traditional Stores
Silver City, NM Offers Unique Galleries, Shops, and New Holiday Traditions
Silver City, NM – October 31, 2018 – Silver City, New Mexico is well known for its outdoor recreation, arts and culture, and history, and it’s a unique destination to unwind, find one-of-a-kind gifts, and create new traditions this holiday season. With over 30 art galleries, Silver City’s historic downtown district provides optimal holiday shopping for everyone on your list.
“Instead of standing in long lines, stressing over finding the perfect gift, and buying the same old thing from a department store, we challenge people to find something personal and rare for their gift giving this year,” said Alex Brown, Town of Silver City Manager. “In addition to enjoying a nice getaway in Silver City, you can take care of all of your holiday shopping without breaking the bank, while ensuring you’re giving something out of the ordinary and supporting small businesses. Our wide array of galleries and shops are great to find that special something—from unique art pieces, to handmade wares, and more.”
In addition to holiday shopping, Silver City turns festive with a variety of holiday-themed events, kicking off with the annual Lighted Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 24. With the theme of “A Storybook Christmas,” the festivities will feature holiday stories, as well as a spectacular parade. On both Friday and Saturday, a horse drawn wagon will take shoppers around downtown, in conjunction with Shop Small Saturday, where local businesses will be offering specials and deals to encourage shopping small.
In December, take a step back in time and celebrate Victorian style with the 24th Annual Victorian Christmas at the Silver City Museum. In addition to showcasing the history of the Victorian era, the event includes live music, snacks, interactive activities and visits with Santa.
“Whether you’re looking for a quick getaway to relieve the stress of planning for the holidays, shopping, or you’re looking to immerse yourself in a community and celebrate the events and culture of the area, Silver City has something for everyone this holiday season,” added Brown. “We encourage people to escape the hassle and worry of planning the perfect holiday, and simply enjoy some time with friends and family, discover incredible art, and relaxation.”
