Skater Anna Madorsky who portrays Elsa in Frozen recently spoke to Spotlight about Life on tour and what if means to her being a part of Disney on Ice.
Spotlight: What does your skating background entail?
Anna Madorsky: I have been with Disney for about 2 years and I’ve been show-skating since 2009. Ive been fortunate to have performed all over the world. I started skating at age 3 and most of the skaters grew up skating as well. As a skater, I went to sectionals, nationals then into a performance career
SP: What is it like to portray an iconic role like Elsa?
AM: It’s been such a wonderful experience and this is currently my 2nd season portraying the role. So far we’ve taken the tour to the east coast and Mexico. Touring Mexico was such a special experience. We started in Mexico City at the national auditorium which was incredible every show. We then performed in Guadalajara and Monterrey. Show wise the fans were so outgoing, dressed up in character and sang all the songs. Every performance I’d hear the audience support and sing with me which really was magical. The experience of Mexican culture, the music, trying new food and the customs was very memorable.
SP: How do you train for these roles?
AM: We are tied to portraying characters as close to how they were designed by the great engineers of Disney. We are given the look, makeup and are trained for hand movements. When they are seeing me they are seeing Elsa, I’m almost lost in it.
SP: what else can we expect to see from “Dear to Dream- Finding Your Inner hero”
AM: We open with beauty and the beast and then the audience meets Cinderella. A tango tale with Rapunzel follows and then frozen with a finish with our newest Milan story. We also have a pre-show where Miguel from Coco sings.
SP: Any other big takeaways about the show that we should know about?
AM: One of the big takeaways is we have a modern twist on these stories that we can all be the creators of our own stories. We can all be our own heroes for our own stories. Princesses conquering their own adversary giving it a fresh message. The modern story really makes it relatable.
