UTEP BASKETBALL IS BACK
The UTEP Miner Basketball team is back and in full swing. The Miners won 100-50 in an amazing first game performance of the season against Louisiana College. The Miners look to have a big season this year with Matt Wilms and Omega Harris looking to capitalize on their senior seasons.
UTEP did not fair well this week against Boise State and South Carolina. UTEP was a contender in the Puerto Rico Tip-off tournament. The Miners were leading Boise state 53-51 in the final 30 seconds of the matchup but Boise came through and capitalized on a turnover and won the game. The next morning this young miner squad faced off against Frank Martins South Carolina squad and lost 80-56. South Carolina coming off a final four appearance in last years NCAA Tournament.
The Miners face off next week against one of their biggest rivals in NMSU. Newcomer Keith Frazier is quickly showing leadership with the miners. Frazier is currently averaging 17 points and 10 rebounds. The former Mcdonalds All-American is a transfer from UNT and looks to have a standout senior year for the Miners.
