Mike Price is Back
UTEP Football has had some interesting changes in the past week. Former UTEP Football Coach Mike Price is back as the Interim Head Football Coach for the remainder of the season. Mike Price says he has no intention of staying on after this season and there are hopes that finishing the season with Price will reignite the players and fanbase. Sean Kugler resigned last week amid UTEP falling to 0-5 to start the season.
Coach Mike price led the miners from 2004-2012 where they had back to back bowl seasons in his first 2 years as head coach. Price was 48-61 at UTEP giving him a 177-183 career record as head coach. Coach Price led a Washington State team to a rose bowl in 1997 which earned him 1997 national coach of the year honors.
UTEP felt they were ready to bounce back but fell 15-14 against conference champion WKU. This young team was highly motivated and Mike Price was ready to show a crowd of 20,418 fans in the Sun Bowl but things fell short. The Miners will now face off against USM in the first of 6 remaining games for this team. The fans are pumped with Mike Price at the helm and let’s hope attendance rises some more.
