Participants will be automatically entered into a raffle for a chance to win several great prizes, including GIFT CARDS, CYCLING GEAR, and RESTAURANT CERTIFICATES.
In addition to raising awareness about the crucial, post-crisis phase of a domestic violence survivor’s journey, the “Cycle for Change – from surviving to thriving” is a cycling event focused on raising resources to provide survivors of domestic violence with scholarships for educational opportunities, vocational training and therapeutic services.
Each scholarship will be in an amount not to exceed $500. All are gift scholarships and do not have to be repaid.
Applicants must be:
A primary survivor of intimate partner domestic violence;
Currently residing in the United States and El Paso County;
Each scholarship must be used within 6 months of the date the winner is notified of the award or the award is forfeited.
The award will be paid directly to the school or agency/ vendor providing the service or good for which the scholarship has been awarded.
Each award must be used for a purpose that empowers the survivor to move beyond breaking the cycle of domestic violence – educational opportunities, job skills or therapeutic services which promote the personal growth and self-esteem necessary for a survivor of domestic violence to thrive.
All applicants must complete a scholarship application and submit a personal statement, no more than 1,500 words, outlining their journey as a domestic violence survivor, the intended purpose of the scholarship, and how the proposed purpose of the scholarship will promote their personal growth and/or self-esteem. The personal statement may be in the applicant’s preferred language.
All finalists may be asked to meet and visit with the scholarship panel of the “Cycle for Change” Scholarship Program as part of the selection process.
