CELEBRATE OUR MOUNTAINS
Enjoy the outdoor treasures of the El Paso del Norte Region during this six-week celebration. Bird watching, nature hikes and drives, mountain biking and even bat watches are part of this yearly festival. If you would rather relax than explore the young volcanic crater outside of El Paso, you can opt for the “Coffee, hot chocolate, muffins, and the tramway’ event. There is truly something for everyone, and most events are free.
HIKE TO RANGER PEAK

Hike to the top of Ranger Peak. Learn about the geology and wildlife of our mountains. Purchase your ticket at the window and then meet at the end of the parking area. This is a 1-mile, strenuous, hike Participants must bring water, sun protection, sturdy shoes, and weather appropriate clothing. The Tramway can be found by following McKinley Ave. off Alabama St. to the end. Prices for events are $8 for adults (13 years and up) and $4 for children (4 – 12) or use your Texas State Park Pass. Join renowned environmental activist, Judy Ackerman, on a 1.5-miles hike with just a 250-ft. elevation gain. Hike in arroyos and on ridges near the Franklin Mountains State and learn more about basic hiking and native plants. Park. Some walking will be off trail with very uneven footing. Meet at the corner of Stoney Hill and Big Bend. Bring 2 quarts of water, wear sturdy footgear, long pants, long sleeve shirt and a hat. Snacks and a camera are also recommended. BIKE TO SCENIC DRIVE
Get ready to pedal! Bicycle with the EP Cyclists from Sacred Heart Church, 600 S. Oregon, to the Scenic Drive Overlookbeginning at 9:00 AM. For those who wish to participate, there will be a Mass beginning at 8:00. You will arrive at the Scenic Drive Overlook about 9:30 to 9:45. A Blessing of the Bicycles ceremony will follow conducted by Jesuit Ron Gonzales, Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish. All are invited to join this special celebration: cyclists, runners, hikers, photographers and artists including people from Las Cruces and Cd. Juarez.
