New additions around El Paso
San Jacinto Plaza had its big grand opening this past weekend and El Pasoans were happy to see the completion after many delays. There are many new developments happening in and around the sun city which makes this an exciting time.
The Alamo Drafthouse is finally opening here in the sun city. May 6th marks the grand opening of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema – Montecillo. The theater will be located on the corner of Mesa and Montecillo Blvd. This theater chain is known for providing food and drinks to patrons watching movies in the theater. There are 23 theaters across the country and all locations have a strict no talking policy. Major developments are also underway for the El Paso International Airport. The city of El Paso is looking to spend $2.7 million dollars on a “sense of place” project around the Airport.. Landscape enhancements, architectural lighting and an artistic lighting element will all be part of the project. According to City documents, improvements will occur in two sections. Airport property north of Montana Avenue and Airway Boulevard from Interstate 10 to Montana Avenue. Airway will receive landscape improvements along the center median.
The Bassett Tower in downtown El Paso is also looking at some pretty great renovations. Local investors who just received a local grant are set to turn this building into an ALOFT hotel. The hotel will feature 100 rooms, an indoor pool and a 3,000 square feet meeting room.The anticipated opening date for the hotel is slated for April 2017.
