EPCC Adopts Campestre Elementary School

El Paso Community College (EPCC) will adopt Campestre Elementary School, 11399 Socorro Road, in a flag raising ceremony at the elementary school on Monday October 21, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. The ceremony will kick off EPCC’s Elementary School Adoption Program and will be attended by program creator and EPCC President, Dr. William Serrata, Socorro Independent School District (SISD) Superintendent, Dr. José Espinoza, as well as board members from EPCC and SISD.

The El Paso Community College Elementary School Adoption Program initiative was undertaken to address the need to increase college readiness awareness of elementary school students and parents with the goal of creating a college-going culture.  The program will proclaim an elementary school to be a “College Bound School” and advocate the perspective of “College begins in kindergarten.” by building strong elementary school and college connections through campus tours, workshops, presentations, outreach programs, and parental involvement.
