The public is advised that the El Paso Department of Transportation (EPDoT) will be working on Montwood Street between Lee Trevino and Joe Battle. Temporary lane closures should be expected.
Appropriate traffic control measures are in place and will remain while the work on this street is in progress. Construction has begun and should be completed by mid-November.
The project scope includes:
· Heater Scarification: A process that utilizes heavy equipment to remove cracks in the pavement by heating and compacting the street’s surface.
· Micro-Surfacing: A process that applies a seal of new asphalt onto the existing street. This activity follows the heater scarification process.
The travel lanes, crosswalks and bike lanes will be re-marked following the completion of the micro-surfacing process. The project will extend the life of the roadway and improve its riding surface. It cost about $800,000 and was funded through 2013-19 Infrastructure Certificates of Obligation.
