On-street parking will be prohibited from 5pm to 8am
Work will begin tonight removing existing pavement, re-paving, and re-striping San Antonio Avenue between El Paso Street and Florence Street in Downtown El Paso.
To minimize disruptions, much of the work will be confined to overnight hours. In addition to intermittent lane closures, on-street parking will be prohibited from 5pm to 8am. Work is expected to be completed by the end of the week.
San Antonio Avenue is presently a one-way street carrying traffic eastbound. As part of this project, it will be re-striped as a two-way street. While the re-striping will be completed soon, the street will not be immediately opened to two-way traffic to allow for work on traffic signals and to give motorists time to become familiar with the new traffic pattern.
The upgrades are part of a $2.4 million project to upgrade the streetscape along San Antonio Avenue. The project also includes new sidewalks and ramps which comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
