Pitching the golf ball from 40 yards or so is completely counterintuitive because the right-handed player must swing well to the left of the target in order to produce a high, spinning shot that stops quickly near the hole.
In the photo sequence here, I’m teaching a young player how to stop the ball over the bunker. The geometry of the shot is pretty straightforward, but the execution is tricky.
