Animal Prints – Call of the Wild Child
Posted on 13. Aug, 2010 by admin.
Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Throw in a few leaping leopards, pulsing pythons and zippy zebras, and you’ve got an animal menagerie that is creating a fashion jungle out there this fall.
The cats haven’t been howling as much as they have on this season’s runways, since legendary fashion editor extraordinaire Diana Vreeland pushed the animal prints of a young Yves Saint Laurent. Vreeland was a big fan of animal prints — she not only adopted them as her own uniform, but she used them liberally when decorating her own home. The print that can truly be called a classic has now found its way into stylish wardrobes everywhere, young and old. Animal-print diapers, anyone?

Timing isn’t everything

One of the basic tenets of a good golf swing is that during the backswing the wrists cock so that the clubshaft and the lead arm form an L. The L is a lever, a 90-degree angle that ramps up the power of your swing.
This angle is a “collecting device.” It gathers
and holds energy until impact, when the angle straightens out, dumping its force into the ball.

Posted on 06. Aug, 2010 by admin.
It hasn’t exactly been the most celebrated of Golden Anniversaries, but 2010 marks the 50th year since NASCAR’s original superspeedway boom.
Back in 1960, three new superspeedways joined the group of tracks hosting races for the circuit now known as Sprint Cup, a list that was dominated at that time by dirt tracks, most of them a half-mile or less.

On Stage at the Source of Her Inspiration — What it Meant to Ashley Matte to Play at Lilith Fair
Posted on 06. Aug, 2010 by admin.
It was a simple request, and one that was easily granted. But when Ashley Matte got her pinch a split second later, the priceless look on her face — sheer delight mixed with “Are you kidding me?” incredulity — conveyed what happens when dreams and hopes become a happy reality.
That’s because the pinch was delivered by multi-Grammy Award winner Sarah McLachlan, whose music profoundly changed Matte’s life 13 years ago and inspires the singer-songwriter to this day.

Therapy for Charm-Challenged Rooms: Color and Architectural Add-Ons
Posted on 06. Aug, 2010 by admin.
Q: The “living” room in our house is on the small — and bland — side, which is OK because we really live in the family room/kitchen area. I’m thinking about making it into a little quiet space for me, what my grandmother would call a “sitting room.” Tell me how to add some character to the space.
A: Your answer in three little words: color, color, color. Banish bland; work up a color scheme that is — depending on your personal taste — deep, rich and comforting or light, bright and energizing.

A Flare for the game

Here’s a question for you: Do you need a complete swing reconstruction or just a
custom re-matching?
If your swing is really bad and you have the time and dedication for a complete overhaul, find a teacher who’s going to be around for at least the next year, agree on a blueprint and stick with it. It took Tiger a year plus each time he retooled his swing.

THE CULTURE AT LARGE AFFECTS QUALITY OF KIDS’ EDUCATION
Posted on 06. Aug, 2010 by admin.
QUESTION: You’ve been somewhat critical of America’s public schools in recent years. Who do you hold accountable for what has gone wrong?
DR. DOBSON: I share the concern of many others about falling test scores, increasing violence on campuses, and the high illiteracy rate, among other serious problems with today’s schools. But I am not quick to blame educators for everything that has gone wrong.
