Fashion Tips for the Last Days of Summer
Posted on 27. Aug, 2010 by admin.
As summer winds down, the heat is still on, but it’s not quite time to put away the bikinis yet, according to image consultant Marla Tomazin, who makes her career out of helping people look and feel good all year long.
“Image is so much more than clothes,” says Tomazin. “It’s what you project to others about yourself in your attitude, energy and demeanor. I believe that happiness can truly be found in the small, seemingly unimportant details of day-to-day life,” she says.

The Minutemen to replace Sheriff’s Deputies?
Posted on 27. Aug, 2010 by admin.
Trying to balance the budget for El Paso County on the backs of Sheriff’s Deputies is not an option, according to one lawmaker. In a contentious disagreement between County Commissioner Dan Haggerty and Sheriff Richard Wiles, Haggerty had suggested that one way for the department to shave off five percent from its annual budget would be to fire some deputies.
Wiles, who had no comment for this interview, had called Haggerty’s idea, “reckless and irresponsible.” Facing a $15 million budget shortfall, county officials are working to find ways to save money so that nobody has to be laid off, or put on furlough.

Cut to the chase: As final 10 approach, is Harvick the new pre-Chase favorite?
Posted on 20. Aug, 2010 by admin.
NASCAR’s Race to the Chase, the final regular season races that determine which 12 drivers will compete for the championship over the final 10 races, is down to three races – at Bristol Motor Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway and Richmond International Raceway. And the big question now is whether points leader and Michigan winner Kevin Harvick has replaced four-time and defending champion Jimmie Johnson as the pre-Chase favorite.
After his dominating win at Michigan on Sunday – his third triumph of the season – Harvick clinched his spot in the 10-race run to the title.

Low hands high clubhead
Posted on 20. Aug, 2010 by admin.
You don’t have to reach too high to achieve an ideal position at the top of your swing. But most golfers try to swing their hands as high as possible on the backswing because they equate “high hands” with increased power.
Flexible golfers tend to get their hands “up,” and there are players on the PGA Tour such as John Daly, Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson who have very high hands. However, I’m convinced that most golfers would benefit greatly from what I call “low hands, high clubhead.”

TICK TALK – Pet lovers win a few battles, but ticks winning the war
Posted on 19. Aug, 2010 by admin.
ATLANTA — Spot a flea or two on your dog or cat, and the reaction is likely to be a slight shudder and a mental note to check the calendar to see if it’s time for the monthly application of a few magic drops between the shoulder blades.
But spot a tick or two on your pet, and the reaction is more likely to be a string of swear words, or even a scream.
There’s something about those nasty eight-legged pests that evokes a visceral reaction and does more than trigger a desire for parasite control:

KIDS TIRE EASILY AS THEY PROGRESS THROUGH PUBERTY
Posted on 19. Aug, 2010 by admin.
QUESTION: My thirteen-year-old daughter has become increasingly lazy in the past couple of years. She lies around the house and will sleep half a day on Saturday. She complains about being tired a lot. Is this typical of early adolescence? How should I deal with it?
DR. DOBSON: It is not uncommon for boys and girls to experience fatigue during the years of puberty. Their physical resources are being invested in a rapid growth process during that time, leaving less energy for other activities. This period doesn’t last very long and is usually followed by the most energetic time of life.

Red Hot Fall: Fall’s Color Palette
Posted on 19. Aug, 2010 by admin.
Don’t let life get you down … just open your closet and throw some color on. How about Lipstick Red? Purple Orchid? Living Coral? Blue Lagoon? These are the new hues touted by the color authorities at Pantone, a color forecasting company, and by fashion designers hoping that we’ll all get in a much brighter mood when fall rolls around.

La Tercera Revolución – ¿Cuándo se va a acabar la violencia en Juárez?
Posted on 19. Aug, 2010 by admin.

When Will the Violence End in Juarez?
Posted on 19. Aug, 2010 by admin.
For reporters and others who cover the news in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, it’s the eternal question, something that’s asked of us every day.
When will the violence end? Although we try to cover the news as well as we can, it becomes increasingly difficult when your news day starts with car bombings, threats by delinquents, shots fired from guns with high potency, intimidation by governmental structures so that the public won’t become aware of their ineptitude and their corruption.

Bullseye! Montoya hits the mark with long-sought win at Watkins Glen
Posted on 13. Aug, 2010 by admin.
There are few Sprint Cup driver-crew chief combos that needed a win any more than Juan Pablo Montoya and Brian Pattie, who got that victory on Sunday at Watkins Glen International. It was Montoya’s second as a Cup driver and Pattie’s first ever in NASCAR’s elite division. And it came after the two had very public disagreements over the outcomes of the two previous races.
In the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the No. 42 team dominated the race only to lose to teammate Jamie McMurray, who took two tires to Montoya’s four and held on for the win.

Rock Solid: Health Problems Haven’t Stopped Bret Michaels
Posted on 13. Aug, 2010 by admin.
Keeping busy is easy for self-described “passion-aholic” Bret Michaels. Staying alive has been more of a challenge for this veteran rock star turned TV-fueled pop-culture sensation (“Celebrity Apprentice,” VH1′s “Rock of Love With Bret Michaels”). Indeed, his multiple near-death experiences this year only seemed to slow him down momentarily before he sprang — well, limped — back into action.

By: Rose Bennett Gilbert Q: Our sons can no longer share a room — the high schooler really needs a quiet place to study. So, we are converting the den to a bedroom for the 8-year-old and will move the bunk bed in there for him. The problem is, the room left to the older [...]
