TRIFECTA! Ganassi gets third big win, but not with the driver expected
Posted on 30. Jul, 2010 by admin.
Chip Ganassi completed his car-owner’s trifecta on Sunday as one of his drivers won the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to go along with his victories earlier this year in the nation’s other major races: the Daytona 500 and the Indianapolis 500.
But it wasn’t his driver Juan Pablo Montoya – the focus of all the media attention leading up to the Brickyard – who delivered the trophy. It was the driver who has been the biggest surprise of the 2010 season, Jamie McMurray.

Posted on 30. Jul, 2010 by admin.
It’s unlikely England’s Queen Elizabeth II and the members of veteran heavy-metal band Iron Maiden have a lot in common, apart from their shared nationality and the fact they live in a country where this summer is cold and gray. But when it comes to the genre-leaping music of singer-pianist Jamie Cullum, the queen and the Maidens are of like mind.

MODERN MIRACLES – Veterinary specialists offer hope with advanced care options
Posted on 30. Jul, 2010 by admin.
The advances in veterinary medicine in just the last couple of decades have been dramatic, and these days many of the same lifesaving options in human medicine are also available to pets, often through skilled veterinary specialists.
Still, the idea that advanced treatments for cancer and other diseases or injuries are too much “to put a pet through” remains a common one, says Dr. Sandy Willis, a veterinarian who specializes in internal medicine.
But Josh, Tessa, Missy and Emma would surely beg to differ. The three dogs and one cat bore mute testimony to the power of veterinary medicine and an owner’s love at the 2010 conference of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, held recently in Anaheim, Calif.

QUESTION: Talk about a father’s impact on his daughter and what he should hope to accomplish through that relationship.
DR. DOBSON: Fathers have an incalculable impact on their daughters. Most psychologists believe, and I am one of them, that all future romantic relationships are influenced positively or negatively by the way a girl interacts with her dad in the childhood years.

Bend THE BALL
Posted on 30. Jul, 2010 by admin.
It’s the course architect’s job to make golf exciting, so he prepares a progression of tests, some requiring the ball to curve to the left, some to the right and some to fly straight.
For a right-handed golfer, a fade is a curve on the ball from left to right; a draw is just the opposite. A fade for a pro is a straight ball that gets to the top of its flight pattern, then falls to the right, at most about three or four yards.

A MIRACLE OF RESTORATION
Posted on 23. Jul, 2010 by admin.
In order to make solid contact you must use the “long arm” method: The arms are long at address, then the back arm folds and the front wrist cocks, decreasing your clubhead’s distance to the ball. Then just in time for impact, the arms go long again, re-creating the distance you established at address.
For purposes of discussion, let’s assume that the golf swing is a circle, even though it is not exactly so. The radius of your swing circle is a combination of your front arm plus the length of the club.

When it comes to food, household cleaners and plants, veterinary experts say that pet lovers spend too much time worrying about products that aren’t much of a problem and generally don’t know about the things that truly are.
How can you know what’s safe and what’s not?
“Check multiple sources for confirmation,” says veterinarian Dr. Steven Hansen, head of the ASPCA’s Animal Poison Control Center, noting that the APCC’s website (ASPCA.org/APCC) is a great resource, as is the urban myth website Snopes.com. “Question it all, and if you have any question at all, ask your own veterinarian.”
